The “Who is who” in environmental management in Nigeria converged on Abeokuta, Ogun State between Monday October 16 to Wednesday October 18, 2017 for one of the biggest events in the Environment Sector in Nigeria, the 11th National Council of Environment (NCE).
As part of programmes commemorating the event, the Minister of State for Environment, Mallam Ibrahim Usman Jibril, led other top officials of the Federal Ministry of Environment paid courtesy visits some eminent personalities in Ogun State. Amongst those visited were former governor Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, Ogun State Ibikunle Amosun, and Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.
The 11th NCE with the theme: ‘Unlocking the Investment Opportunities in the Environment Sector towards Nigeria’s Economic Recovery, Diversification, Growth and Sustainable Development’, was attended by delegates from the 36 states of the federation, including the FCT. The event featured technical sessions as well as extensive deliberations on climate change, drought, renewable energy, waste management and environmental health among other issues.
